Maybe using siege towers is the correct thing to do? How do you handle sieges against Orcs? I brought Greatswords, Halberdiers, a Rocket Battery and two Great Cannons to Grung Zint, with an intent on making it an easy battle and scoring some cheap cash, and took serious casualties from the towers, because the siege artillery just can't knock down the towers fast enough to prevent them from chewing up either your artillery - if you've got your army behind them - or your troops, if you're advancing to take the pressure off the artillery. It's kind of frustrating to realize four days into the game that there's teensy-tiny little arrows on the recruitment panel that let you access units like knights, pistoliers and so forth that you thought were just frippery - meaning that I was essentially cut off from recruiting units that I'd invested serious amounts of gold into making possible. Which leads me to the question: Should I just be playing Total War 2? I want to play the Empire campaign, and it looks like you can in Warhammer 2, but are you in the Old World or Lustria/Naggaroth? Worse - although this is the result of a cursory search - I can't figure out how to break a defensive or military alliance with those provinces. The solution would obviously be to break the military alliance, but I'd like to confederate with those two provinces and I don't know how else to make that happen. Worse yet, I formed a military alliance with Wissenland and Talabec early on, and they seem eager to demand that I join them in fighting every other Empire province EVERY. Am I supposed to be fighting them, befriending them, or.? It's easier just to invade and conquer the provinces, but I'm worried that's going to force the other provinces into creating an alliance against me. How is confederation even supposed to work? The entire area seems to be in a state of perpetual civil war. There's no bar across the top of the screen to indicate confederation status, no prestige or Imperial authority to spend in the first game - that's part of the second game, but I'm not playing the second game. The problem is that when Total War Warhammer 2 came out, it screwed the Google search results for Total War Warhammer 1. I've been playing exclusively as the Empire and trying to figure out the mishmash of factions that surround what's supposed to be the Empire. I picked up both the original version of Warhammer: Total War and Warhammer Total War 2 AND all of the DLC for both games, and I've been playing it the first game ever since and I'm getting increasingly annoyed with the game.
